Moderated USability study

Moderator: Dr. Johanny Pestalozzi, Digital Product Designer

In this video, a remote & moderated usability study of a low-fidelity prototype is presented. The project was about the design of a mobile app to help adults transition to a new career. The test was structured in three parts, first, a section of brief questions & answers around career transitioning; second, a section in which the user performed a series of tasks with the mobile app guided by a list of prompts provided by the moderator; and third, a section in which the user completed a system usability scale (SUS) to appraise the overall experience.

Accessibility in Digital Products

Speaker: Josua Muheim, Accessibility Engineer at Nothing AG

Moderator: Dr. Johanny Pestalozzi, Miro User Lead, Product & Design

Accessibility is a hot topic! The current global situation shows us quite plainly, how much we all are dependent on digital communication, and how important it is that nobody is left behind because of digital barriers. In this workshop, you will be introduced into the fascinating topic of accessibility. We will also take a closer look at Miro itself to see how well it includes people with various special needs, and we will realize that UX and accessibility have a lot of common ground. Finally, you will be instructed to use the screen reader on your smartphone, so you can experience websites the same way a blind person does - quite an eyeopener even to people with perfect eyesight, I promise!

Xplore: Case Study of a Citizen Development Project

Speaker: Dr. Johanny Pestalozzi, Startup Founder, Experience Strategy & Design Consultant

The International Data Corporation (IDC) estimates that by 2023 more than 500 million apps will be developed. However, IT departments cannot meet this increasing demand due to limited resources and priorities. Citizen Developers can help close the gap in their organizations.

As part of my training in Citizen Development with the Project Management Institute (PMI), I worked on a case study of a knowledge management system for a UX team. The goal of the project was to create an app aiming at keeping a centralized database of reference content (e.g., articles, notes, books, etc.) for improved information visibility and accessibility, upon which all team members in the organization can expand, continuously review, and integrate into their work.

Design Thinking Your Career Reinvention

Speaker: Dr. Johanny Pestalozzi, Startup Founder, Experience Strategy & Design Consultant

Many circumstances lead us to change a career, from discovering new interests during our professional development to a global crisis that transforms industries and customers' needs.

Remaining competitive is only one part of the equation to adapt, more to that includes being empathic with ourselves, understanding our context and business needs, and ideating solutions. This helps us to define promising paths, testing concepts, flexibly modifying plans, and coming up with a roadmap for our professional reinvention. This is a skill that can help us navigate uncertainty, constant transformation, and our re-discovery process.

Join me in this workshop to discuss Design Thinking as a technique to help us fluidly re-design our careers amid risks and uncertainty.
