3D/VR Meditation Review

Fostering Digital Health through VR Meditation

Reflection about Risks & Opportunities

TRIPP APP review

TRIPP is a VR meditation app that helps build wellness in people and was featured at Time's Best Inventions in 2022. Below are some notes on the digital experience.

Impressions

I felt truly relaxed and amazed about the beautiful art the immersive environment contains. I was glad to disconnect for a moment from my real-world thoughts and transport literally to a world of possibilities, imagination, and transcendence. I felt I could breathe deeply, fly, and elevate my soul.

At times, I had a bit of VR sickness but it was only for a few seconds.

It would be great to get an overview of the different meditation experiences available in the VR environment, to get an idea of the art & options users can access. Nevertheless, the app contains different meditation sections, which I assume may be available in VR too.

The entrance page was compact, showcasing subscription options, testimonials, and information on how else to access the product.

The mood survey at the beginning and at the end of the experience is helpful in letting users self-assess how they feel and notice the impact of the meditation on their mood.

To enhance this experience, the product could be connected to a smartwatch, e.g., Fitbit, that can track resting heart & breathing rates as well as variability & stress levels. Coupling these two devices provides more comprehensive insights into how the body relaxes during meditation.

Another way to enhance the experience is by enabling a feature that lets users access TRIPP's VR community directly from the main Metaverse app. This way, people can have a seamless & well-connected VR experience with social interactions and guided exercises in the company of others, who are also represented with an avatar within the VR environment.

TRIPP provides a separate VRChat community, accessible via web browser, where people can sign up and join scheduled events with guided meditations, as they describe: "to connect and collectively support each other’s emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being." I attended a Zen meditation meetup in VRChat Inc. and it was very useful. There was an international group of participants, an expert TRIPP, Inc. Zen lead in the form of an avatar, and a bun fire in the middle of the room with background sound that made the whole experience feel real. I was glad to see technology enabling human connections and facilitating means for exchanging thoughts, helping meditate, and improving well-being. #VR #DigitalHealth #DigitalExperience #VirtualReality #DigitalInnovation
